McCarthy, Joya
Joya’s family has been dairy farming for over 100 years, and she grew up working on her family’s 500-cow Holstein dairy in Waterford, CA. She performed various tasks such as feeding cows, milking cows, and other miscellaneous management duties, but her favorite task was caring for the maternity cows and newborn calves. Joya studied Dairy Science at Modesto Junior College and graduated from CSU Stanislaus in 2016 with a Bachelors in Agricultural Biology. She then worked for 5 years as a Genetic Management Specialist for ABS Global, followed by 2 years at VAS as a Product Manager, and started a hoof trimming business with her husband Travis in 2020, through which they developed an award-winning hoof data mobile app. Joya now works as a Technical Product Manager at Specialty Sales LLC, utilizing her passion and expertise in technology and lameness management to bring new and innovative solutions to the industry.
